My Bio
Hello, my name is Mrs. Laurie Fallon and I have been teaching in the Western Dubuque School District for several years. To give you a summary, I taught Special Education, intermediate and secondary grades at Farley from 1983-1986, I moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where I met my husband and taught in the Fort Zumwalt school district for eight years. During those 8 years, I taught Special Education and Sixth Grade Reading at North Middle School in O'Fallon, I married Mark Fallon on July 2, 1988. Soon after that, we started our family and I began working as a Parent Educator for the 'Parents As Teachers' early childhood program. After staying home for several years to raise my own six children, I returned to teaching at Western Dubuque High School where I currently teach Special Education. My classroom is an enjoyable adventure with lots of smiles and hugs every day! In addition to being a (Strat II) Special Educator, I also coordinate Peer Partner/Mentoring experiences with a co-teacher, Tom Andrews. This is a program for high school students who are interested in working in the field of special education for a possible career choice in their future. These students are also very involved with the WDHS Partner's Club which is a club that involves students with and with and without disabilities in social and leadership activities in the school and community. In addition to this club, these students are also involved as a volunteer or athlete for Special Olympics Iowa. I am the faculty advisor for the WDHS Partner's Club and the head coach for the WDHS Special Olympics team. I am also certified as a Special Olympics Iowa Program Manager and have been volunteering to coach at Special Olympics competitions at the National level during the summer's when these competitions take place. I love to stay involved in the area of special needs and look forward to many more years of teaching and coaching!
