ACACIA Leadership Scholarship (University Of Iowa)

The ACACIA Leadership Scholarship is designed to identify and reward outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated their ability to excel in fields of academics, extra curricular activities, and human service. The scholarship is available to any male, graduating senior from an accredited high school who attends The University of Iowa.  A total of up to $10,000 can be awarded per year.  Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by March 30th, 2018

ACT Student Champion Award

A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions.  Must have a composite ACT score of a 22 or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale.  Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.  Deadline: December 31, 2017

Must be Iowa resident, Attend eligible Iowa college or university. Must have graduated in the last two years. Be a first-time college freshman in the fall 2017 or spring 2018. American Legion Merit Awards Application - Outdated

Must be a graduating high school senior who resides in the American Legion Second District of Iowa (Clinton Co, Dubuque Co, Jackson Co, Linn Co, Jones Co, or Scott Co)  It is not necessary to be related to a member of the American Legion or Auxiliary.  Applicant must attend college in state of Iowa.  Application blanks must be filed out entirely.  Failure to comply will be automatic disqualification.  Three (3) separate $300 general Merit Awards will be awarded.    Deadline April 7, 2017

Scholarship is available for student pursuing a STEM-related course of study and those residing in the trade area of an Iowa Independent Telecommunications Company. Applicant must have a minimum 3.33 GPA and be a high school junior or graduating senior with the 2016-2017 school year. Deadline: April 30, 2017

Auxiliary Scholarship Fund - Mercy Medical Center Dyersville - Outdated

AXA Achievement Scholarship - Outdated

Better Business Bureau-Student of Integrity 2018

Only one approved applicant per school will be accepted, contact the counseling office by December 15th if interested in applying.  This is not a academic scholarship, but a example of integrity. An essay of 1,000 words or less, write about a specific situation you have personally faced that required you to demonstrate an understanding of ethical decision making. What challenges you faced and what life lessons did you learn from your experience? List of involvement through school and community.  Future Plans and transcripts.  2 letters of recommendation.  

Cascade Knights of Columbus - Local

Student must be a son or daughter of an active member of the the Cascade Council #930 of the Knights of Columbus.  He or she must also be attending a Catholic university or college next year. Student must write a 250-500 word essay about what you feel is the importance of a Catholic education.  Deadline: April 21st, 2017

Cascade Lions Club - Local

Cascade Lions club scholarship is applied to tuition at college of your choice.  Student must answer a few questions in 200 words or less describing the community service projects they have been involved in and how your see the Cascade Lions Club serving the Cascade Community. Children's Cancer Connection Empowering Scholarship

Applicant must be directly affected by childhood cancer (includes individuals who currently have or have had cancer before age 18, or a sibling of that individual).  Applicant must be within Children's Cancer Connection service area (living, treated or diagnosed in the state of Iowa).  Applicant must attend an accredited two or four year institution (trade school, college or university).  Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Complete application and with two 500 word essays.  Deadline: May 26, 2017

Christina Hixson Opportunity Awards - (Iowa State University)

The Hixson Opportunity Award is a half-tuition scholarship, estimated at more than $16,000 over the course of eight semesters.  This is for students with extreme financial need, which must be reflected in their FAFSA.   Deadline January 1, 2018

Dubuque & Delaware Counties Coalition Against Domestic Violence

Student must be a Senior at a high school in Dubuque or Delaware County, Iowa and plan to continue their education at a college, university, community college or trade school in the 2017-18 school year.  Student must complete the general application.  Student must submit a 500 word essay addressing: How has domestic violence impacted your life thus far? and/or How you anticipate taking a stand against domestic violence in the future?  Student must submit one (1) recommendation letter from a non-family member.  Deadline: February 1, 2018

Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council - Outdated

Must intend to become employed in either Dubuque, Jo Daviess, or Grant counties following completion of your education program. Must be a immediate family member of individuals who are members of unions or who work for employers belonging to the DALMC, individuals employed at corporate sponsors of Summerfest Dubuque, eligible for assistance und the Workforce Investment Act or National Guard and Reserve personnel who have served. Dubuque County Right to Life, Inc - Outdated

Graduating Seniors who will attend college, students must submit a written copy of a pro-life speech (5-10 minutes) on the theme "Pro-Life until the End"  Finalist will be chosen by the quality of the written speech.  If chosen as a finalist, the student must participate in a speech contest on Saturday April 15, 9:00am-12, in Dubuque.   Scholarship amount of up to $10,000 available to split up at the discretion of the judges.  Deadline for Written Speech: March 24, 2017 

Dubuque Soil & Water Conservation District - Outdated

For student entering into college to pursue a degree in Auto. Grand Lodge of Iowa, A.F. & A.M. - Masonic Scholarship 

This scholarship is designed to assist graduating seniors in pursuing a post-secondary education in any state at an accredited institution which provides two or four year college program.  Applications need not have a Masonic connection, nor do race, creed, religion, color, sex, or national origin have any bearing on selection process.  Recipients are selected after completing a comprehensive written application and an in-depth personal interview.  Deadline: February 1, 2018

Grand Lodge of Iowa, A.F. & A.M. - MCEC Technical Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to to a number of graduating Iowa High school seniors who plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College.  This scholarship may be used for any bona fide school related expenses such as tuition, fees, books and tools. A masonic connection is preferred , but not required.  Recipients are selected after completing a comprehensive written application. There will not be interviews of applicants.  Race, creed, religion, sex, color or national origin have no bearing in the selection process. Deadline: March 1, 2018

Horatio Alger Scholarship of Distinguished Americans, Inc

Must be a full-time as a high school senior in the US with plans to enter college no later than the fall semester following graduation.  Exhibit strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution.  Demonstrate financial need, be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, hold a min gpa of 2.0 and be a US citizen.  Deadline: October 25th 2017

IAS Innovative Ag Services - Outdated

IAS will select eight recipients to receive a $750 Ag Scholarship.  Parent or guardian must be an active patron of Innovative Ag Services, having purchased production supplies from the cooperative or sold grain to the cooperative within the past year.  Students must be a graduating high school senior who will be majoring in an agricultural related field of study.  Students must attend an accredited college or university.  Applicant must enroll as a full-time student.  Applicant will also go in the pool for the $750 Friedman scholarship. Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education  - Outdated

Applicants must be committed to the pursuit of automotive-related studies, such as technician training, body shop/collision repair, diesel, new vehicle sales, part sales, accounting, or business administration.  A letter written by the applicant detailing their career goals and interest in pursuing an automotive career.  A recommendation from a high school or college teacher, counselor, or co-worker.  An unofficial transcript of high school or college grades.  A copy of the applicant's Expected Family Contribution from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  An optional statement of support or recommendation from an IADA member dealership is recommended, but not required.  Deadline: Due to IADA by March 1, 2017.

Iowa Newspaper Foundation Scholarships

This is for students preparing for careers in media.  The Iowa Newspaper Foundation offers scholarships for Iowa College students preparing for a career in media. Students at any class level (college freshman through senior in the fall of 2016) are encouraged to apply.  Scholarship awards typically range between $500 and $1,000.  Deadline to complete applications is Feb 9, 2018

Iowa School Counselor Association Senior Scholarship - Outdated

A one time scholarship for a senior attending High School in Iowa to apply toward post secondary education.  A short essay is required on the following topic:  Who is a school counselor who made a difference during your K-12 years and how?  Winner will be announced the first week of February 2017.  Application Deadline January 15, 2017

Iowa Society Daughters of the American Revolution

The Iowa State DAR Society awards one scholarship annually (currently $500).  The student must be an American Citizen, an Iowa resident and planning to attend an Iowa college, University or Technical School.   Students wishing to apply for this scholarship need to contact an Iowa DAR chapter for sponsorship.  Deadline: February 1st

Iowa PGA Section Foundation-In Memory of Charlie Burkart

Any graduating high school senior or previous graduate residing within the boundaries of the Iowa PGA section and the State of Iowa is eligible to apply.  The Iowa PGA section is bounded on the west by U.S. Hwy 71 and includes an area of western Illinois.  Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf, the potential for future contributions to the game, leadership skills/community involvement, then on their academic/professional ability and financial need.  Applicants must email/mail completed application to the scholarship committee on or prior to the Deadline: June 15, 2018

Iowa Student Loan Senior Scholarship

Iowa Student Loan will award 30 Iowa high school seniors $2000 each to use for their fall 2017 college expense.  Interested students should go to www.IowaStudentLoan.org/SeniorScholarship to register and read the complete rules between Oct 23 and Feb 16.

IT Leadership Forum Scholarships - Outdated

Students must be an Iowa resident and high school senior graduating in the 2016-2017 school year. A min 3.0 high school grade point average (4.0 scale) is required. Jones County 4-H Howard & Edna Freeman  - Outdated

Applicant must be a graduating senior in high school, an active member of a Jones County 4-H Club, have exhibited at least on 4-H project at the Great Jones County Fair during their 4-H career.  Applicants must be entering professions or vocations requiring a minimum of 6 months of college or career school.  Applicant must also be pursuing a degree in an agricultural field.  This is one $700 scholarship.  Deadline March 27, 2017

Jones County Cattlemen's Scholarship - Outdated

Applicants must be a graduating high school senior.  Must demonstrate a commitment to a career in the agricultural industry through classes, internships or life experiences.  Applicant's parent(s) must be a paid member of the Jones County/Iowa Cattlemen's Association.  At least one scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to an outstanding student who is pursuing a career in agriculture.  Fields of study my include, ag education, communications, production, research or any other area involved with the agriculture industry.  The purpose of this program is to identify and encourage talented and thoughtful students who will emerge as industry leaders.  Scholarship funds will be awarded to student after completion of their first year of college.  Deadline: Postmarked by March 1, 2017

Jones County Community Foundation - Outdated

The Jones County Community Foundation is offering two $1,000 scholarships at each high school in Jones county.  These scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who have demonstrated " a strong commitment to community service" in Jones County and giving back to their community.  These are not based on scholastic performance.   Return to Counseling office by April 14, 2017

Members of American Mensa as well as non-members may apply to the scholarship program.  Applications are required to submit an essay to be considered.  Grades, academic program and/or financial need are not included in the final determination of scholarship recipients.  This is for students of all ages.  Application period is open from September 15th - January 15th

Mercy Medical Center-2017 Nursing Scholarship - Outdated

For a senior who plans to pursue a career in nursing.  Two letters of recommendations, at least one must be from a teacher.  Personal essay (200-300 words) describing why you have decided to pursue a career in nursing.  Resume of activities including volunteer community activities.  Must be accepted by a 4-year college/university or a community college.  Please identify the name of college on the application.  A one time award of $500  Deadline: March 24, 2017

Monticello Conservation League Scholarship Guidelines 2017

Parent or guardian must be an active, current member, and have had been a member for a minimum of one year.  Active involvement by the student in the Monticello Conservation League is preferred. National Farmer's Farm Kids for College Scholarship  - Outdated

Prudential Spirit of Community

This is for students that have made a difference through volunteering.  Student could be eligible to win $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C., in late April.  Applications will be certified by your school principal or head of a county 4-H organization, Girl Scout council, American Red Cross chapter, YMCA or Affiliate of Point of Light's HandsOn Network.

The Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship

This scholarship requires the senior to be of the Protestant faith, a resident of the State of Iowa and a full-time student at the University of Iowa.  At least one of the recipients must be a member of an Episcopal church, and at least one must be a young man who shows interest in and promise for a career in banking.  All recipients must be of good character and have a good scholastic record.  Scholarship amount of $800 given in two installments of $400.  Deadline: May 1, 2018

Applicants must meet all the criteria to be eligible for this scholarship: Must be a current high school senior who is eligible to attend a two or four year college, university or vocational/technical school. Sanford Health Network Chairman's Challenge Scholarship - Outdated

For students interested in rural health care.  There is a $2.500 one time scholarship for higher education program.  The top submissions in all three categories may be invited to Sanford to participate in a ten week experience to help implement your solutions.  All scholarship submissions must include a completed application form and attach a plan that can be implemented based on individual challenge.  Format of your plan is up to you.   Deadline: February 1, 2017

State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship - Outdated

Applicant must be a 2017 graduating high school senior.  High School seniors must have a cumulative GPA between a 2.5 and 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.  Plan to enroll full-time for the 2017-18 academic year at an accredited 2 or 4 year college, university or vocational-technical school.  Must be a U.S. citizen.  Deadline March 1, 2017 or first 700 submitted applications.

Strayer-Rairden Scholarship in Physics - Outdated

Students must be from the state of Iowa and have applied for admission to The University of Iowa and declared physics or astronomy as their major. Scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, not financial need.  As long as scholarship winner maintains a 3.2 grade point average, and remains declared major specified above, the scholarship may be renewed for a total of four years or the completion of a baccalaureate degree, whichever comes first.  Deadline: January 31, 2017

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Eastern Iowa Professional Chapter

Must be a high school graduating senior or currently enrolled college student.  Must be pursuing a career in Science, Math, Engineering or Technical Training.  Financial need must be explained.  Student must be in good standing.  A GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale is desirable.

UNI - The Sally Gearhart Strottman Memorial Scholarship in Elementary Education -Outdated

Scholarship is for students wishing to pursue a degree in elementary education and are attending UNI. Must have an ACT score of 26 or greater or RAI of 325 or greater.  Must be involved in extracurricular activities, which may include volunteer service.  Provide two letters of references, these may be school personnel and/or UNI alumni.  Must complete an essay on why he/she is interested in pursuing a degree in education.  Must maintain a minimum number of 30 credit hours for the academic year.  One student each year is selected and will receive $10,000 scholarship is renewable each year criteria are met.

Unity Point Scholar Athlete-Outdated
