Go Gold for the Change!
Families, caregivers, charities, and research groups across the United States observe September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. On Tuesday, September 27th, Peosta Elementary will dedicate the day to honor those little fighters by inviting students and staff to wear Gold or Yellow to school. Each classroom will have a container to collect spare change. All money donated will be given to Special Spaces of Dubuque. Last year, the school was a sea of yellow/gold and we collected almost $2000.
Special Spaces Iowa creates dream bedroom makeovers for dependent children ages 2-19 with cancer who are within one year of treatment. Our goal is to provide them a safe place to recover, heal, sleep, and even play. A very special space just to be a kid!
Special Spaces has a special place in our hearts. Children from Western Dubuque have benefitted from this amazing organization. Ann Decker, the Director of the Dubuque Chapter, does a wonderful job of creating an incredible space for our children that reflects their individual personalities. Many of her volunteer helpers are from Peosta!
We can't wait to see Peosta Elementary
