Western Dubuque High School recognizes a former graduate who has been a significant contributor to the community in which they live. This award is presented each year at the graduation ceremony in May. This award is called The Wayne F. Drexler Alumnus of Distinction Award. We are seeking nominations for this award. (If you have already nominated someone for this award, their name remains on the list until they are chosen for the award).
The following are the qualifications/criteria for the Alumnus of Distinction Award:
· Recipient must have been a graduate of Western Dubuque High School.
· Recipient must have graduated at least 10 years prior to receiving the award.
· Recipient must have distinguished himself/herself by community, regional or national recognition.
· Recipient must have contributed to the improvement of society through research or practice.
· Recipient will be recognized at commencement with a plaque.
· Picture of recipient will be displayed at Western Dubuque High School.
· Nominations may come from the public or educational sector.
· Once a person is nominated, his/her name will remain as a candidate until he/she has been selected.
· A recipient cannot receive more than one alumnus of distinction award from Western Dubuque High School.
· Recipient must be a good role model for students.
We will be choosing this year’s winner at the beginning of January so we would like nomination sent to us by December 22, 2023. If you know someone that meets these qualification/criteria, please fill out the attached nomination form below and return to the high school at:
