Emergency Notifications
""
We have the ability to send emergency messages to all parents/guardians through an email message, text message*, and voice message. This provides a quick way for everyone to receive a message in the event of a building lock-down, emergency dismissal/cancellation, or other information that needs to be shared quickly from the Superintendent’s office.

The District office and each of our schools have the ability to send these emergency notifications. After reviewing some recent feedback we received, we determined we needed to make some adjustments to our notification system to help ensure timely notifications. We also want to remind all parents/guardians about the importance of the schools having their current contact information.

It is also important for parents/guardians to understand that email is the emergency system’s default method for sending notifications. If we are not provided with a current email address, these notifications will not be delivered. To receive text messages* or voice messages, parents/guardians must have a Parent Portal account and will need to select their preferred options. Since the system’s default method of contact is through email, we ask everyone to keep all email options enabled.

Those who do not have a Parent Portal account set up, should contact Mary Boge at 563-744-3885 ext. 6030 or contact the building secretary where their student attends to get an account created. Please follow the Emergency Messenger Instructions for more information.

* Western Dubuque Schools does not charge for text messages but some cell providers may have a texting fee. If applicable, the user is responsible for all text message costs. It is also important to understand that if you sign up to receive text and voice messages, the text message will be sent within seconds of first receiving the voice message.  However, if you receive the voice message and select “0” at the end of the call to confirm receiving the message, it will not send the text message since you have already confirmed receiving the voice message.
