The Individual Events Speech Team had a strong showing at
the IHSSA District Individual Events Speech Contest at
Maquoketa Valley on February 24, 2018. Out of the 20 performances from 14
participants, 12 earned I ratings. Despite several disappointing II
ratings, the team who had 5 new members, did an outstanding job and
all should be commended for their hard work. Students who earned a
I rating and will be moving onto the
State Contest at Starmont on March 10th are: Marcella Bruns –
Prose Interpretation, Liam Curoe - Improvisation and Prose Interpretation, Gavin
Foust-Wollenberg – Poetry Interpretation, Evan Knipper –
Solo Musical Theatre, Madeleine Lange – Original Oratory and
Spontaneous Speaking, Danejia Lobdell – Public Address and Storytelling, Emma
Ostwinkle – Prose Interpretation, and Maddie Weber – Original Oratory and
Storytelling. The team did a great job representing CHS
and we wish the participants at State the best of luck.
