Tip Tuesday
It can be frustrating when children seem forgetful, absent-minded or irresponsible. For some children this happens because they intentionally were not paying attention to you.  For others, this might happen because they have a problem concentrating.

It is important to your children’s school success for them to learn to pay attention when directions are being given.  To help them learn to pay attention, try the following:
  • Say things like, “I need you to pay attention right now so please look at me while I’m talking to you.”
  • Wait until you have eye contact before you continue speaking.
  • Keep your directions short.
  • Reduce distractions when giving directions.  For example, turn the TV off.
