Epworth Elementary is a Preschool through 5th Grade building serving approximately 390 students, with programs meeting the needs of all children, including special education, talented and gifted, guidance, speech and language development, Title I Reading, physical education, general music, art, and library/media instruction. Epworth Elementary is located in Epworth, IA and one of five elementary schools in Western Dubuque Community School District.
Epworth is a small community of approximately 2,000 residents. The student population is made up of children from the city of Epworth, Holy Cross, Bankston, and surrounding rural areas.
The building opened in the fall of 2003. The school consists of 22 classrooms, art room/music room, media center, gymnasium and cafeteria. The building uses geothermal energy for heating and cooling resulting in year-round climate control.
Epworth Elementary Schools have access to three laptop carts with 30 devices on each one. More than fifty iPads are available for student and teacher use as well. Each classroom is equipped with projectors which can be connected to devices to enhance instruction while promoting active student engagement. Live broadcasting tools have been installed in classrooms and within a video production room. Students and staff have the ability to steam relevant information, broadcast announcements while creating a variety of green screen video productions.
