Pre-K Registration
Program Options:
Preschool – - We currently offer a free 3-day preschool program (Monday – Wednesday)
- We also offer a 4-day program (Monday – Thursday) for a monthly charge of $130 for the fourth day
- Children must be 4 years of age on or before September 15
Transitional Kindergarten – - We offer a transitional kindergarten program (Monday – Friday) at Epworth Elementary and Peosta Elementary
- There is no tuition fee for the transitional kindergarten program. Families pay the yearly textbook fee of $78
- Children must be 5 years of age on or before September 15
- Students are evaluated on various criteria prior to acceptance in our transitional kindergarten program
Kindergarten – - Our kindergarten program is all day, every day
- Children must be 5 years of age on or before September 15
Nursing and Health Forms: - Certificate of Immunization – prior to school starting (PK, TK, K)
- Health Assessment Record/Physical (PK, TK, K)
- Certificate of Dental Screening (submit once PK, TK or K)
- Student Vision Screening (optional but preferred K)
*Birth certificate needed prior to the start of school
Registering for Prekindergarten (PreK) or Kindergarten (K): - Go to District Home Page www.wdbqschools.org
- Scroll down about halfway through the homepage and click on the Red “Register” icon
- Click on” New Family” if you have never had a child enrolled in any Western Dubuque School OR Click on “Returning Family” if you have had a student enrolled at any time previously or currently enrolled in a Western Dubuque school.
- Complete the online registration process as directed.
Important Information to know Before Registering for Transitional Kindergarten (TK): - Anyone signing up for Transitional Kindergarten will be placed on a waiting list - there is no guarantee that you will be able to get into TK.
- TK will meet five days a week and will follow the same school calendar as the rest of the district.
- TK will take place at two attendance centers - Peosta Elementary and Epworth Elementary - there will be one section of TK in each building so capacity is limited.
- Students will be evaluated on various criteria to determine whether they qualify for TK
- Academic ability
- Social emotional ability
- Assessment scores
- Maturity level
- Birthday
- Families will be notified by April 1st if they have been placed in the TK program for 2022-2023.
- The date that you complete the registration process might be a factor in determining placement. It is important to register early.
- Any questions about TK should be directed to the principal of the school you would attend for kindergarten.
Registering for Transitional Kindergarten (TK)- Follow Steps 1-4 from above.
- Register your child for KINDERGARTEN
- Contact your child’s home attendance center Principal to indicate that you would like your child to enroll in TK AND include your preference of attendance center (Peosta or Epworth).
