For the past eight weeks, the District has been working on our Return to Learn Plan which is due to the Iowa Department of Education by Wednesday, July 1st. In addition to the District Leadership Team which will finalize the plan, there have been five separate subcommittees working hard to determine what school will look like next year. The subcommittee areas include: Academics, Technology, Social Emotional Learning, Equity, and Health and Safety. Each of these groups have been meeting weekly to determine how to safely educate our students next year in a face to face setting, or a distance format. This has been challenging work, but I believe our final plan will be solid and effective.
Once our Return to Learn Plan is finalized and submitted to the state, we will be sharing it with our families. I expect that we will send the plan out in an email and post it to our website and social media platforms by Friday, July 3rd. The full plan will be a lengthy document with all the details associated with face to face learning, distance learning, and our potential hybrid plan. We are also preparing a one-page document that will summarize our face to face return plan in a quick reference format. Our hope is that all students return to school on August 13th. After we have shared the return to learn plan with everyone, we will be surveying our families to find out if they plan to return to school in August. That survey will be sent out on July 6th.
I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. Take care of yourself and your family.
