EXPLORE, PLAN, and ACT
The vision of the Western Dubuque County Community School District is "Better Every Day." As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are expanding opportunities for students to achieve college and career readiness through assessments that open doors to post-secondary education, work, or service.
To fulfill our mission of empowering confident, well-prepared citizens to excel in the 21st century, we are excited to introduce the following assessments:
ACT EXPLORE: Administered to 7th and 8th grade students.
ACT PLAN: Administered to 9th grade students.
ACT Practice Test: Administered to all 10th and 11th grade students, starting in Fall 2014.
These assessments review academic progress toward college and career readiness, identifying strengths and areas needing improvement. This timely feedback allows students to adjust their coursework to stay on track for their educational and career goals. Results also guide our efforts to enhance our educational system and ensure continued success for all students.
The ACT EXPLORE serves as a "pre-pre ACT test," while the ACT PLAN is a "pre ACT test." Early administration of these ACT-aligned tests helps students understand their current academic strengths and areas for growth in English, math, reading, and science. They provide insights into a wide range of future opportunities and offer students a forecast of their potential performance on the ACT Assessment.
For any questions about these opportunities for our students, please contact your building principal or Kelly Simon at the District Office.
