Western Dubuque Community School District serves 3000+ students in eight buildings from nineteen communities spanning five counties in rural Northeast Iowa. We are the largest school district by land size in the state at 555 square miles.
Western Dubuque Community School District is identified among the top 13% of school districts in Iowa with the recognition of a High Performing rating by Iowa School Performance Profiles. We are ranked fourth in the state among similar-sized districts.

In May of 2026 we surveyed graduating seniors and their parents to gather feedback on their Western Dubuque Community School District experience.

Famlies who move here stay here. Parents of the graduating class of 2026 said 84% of their students attended all twelve years of education at WDCSD.
Families and their students are pleased with their experience at WDCSD. 70% of graduating seniors and their famlies reported positively overall.
Students excel in a safe, supportive community of teachers and peers. Students and their parents reported that WDCSD prepared them for their post-secondary life by developing critical thinking skills with academic rigor.
