The Western Dubuque County Community School District reminds families, students, coaches, and sponsors that the annual IHSAA/IGHSAU Non-Contact Period will take place Sunday, July 26, through Sunday, August 2, 2026.
This non-contact period is established by the Unified Activities Federation, which includes the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU), Iowa High School Music Association (IHSMA), and Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA).
During this week, all Western Dubuque school-sponsored activities are suspended. This includes, but is not limited to:
Camps
Clinics
Team workouts
Strength and conditioning sessions
Practices
Lessons
Meetings
Any other school-sponsored activity involving students and coaches/sponsors
The purpose of the non-contact period is to provide students, coaches, and families with a dedicated week to rest, recharge, and spend time together before the start of the upcoming school year and fall activity season.
Regular activities may resume on Monday, August 3, in accordance with Iowa association rules and district schedules.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we observe this statewide non-contact period. We hope everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable week with family and friends as we prepare for another outstanding year of academics, activities, and opportunities at Western Dubuque.
