Friday, January 23
Dyersville Elementary was filled with rhythm and energy as Fonziba spent two days teaching our students the art of African drumming!

Students explored cultural artifacts and learned basic drumming techniques. Even our prekindergarten students joined the fun, dancing to the beat as Fonziba played!

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and former colleagues of Steven Rutz, who passed away on January 12. Steve dedicated 39 years to education, serving the Western Dubuque CSD as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and administrator.

His impact reached far beyond the classroom, touching the lives of students, staff, and communities across our district. We are grateful for his years of leadership, service, and commitment to education.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, January 15 at Kramer Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 16 from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque, where a memorial service will follow at 1:00pm. A private burial will take place at a later date. 💙
