Pending official board approval, Western Dubuque Schools is excited to announce Mark Ressler as the next Assistant Principal/Activities Director at Cascade Jr./Sr. High School.

Mark brings nearly 20 years of experience in education as a teacher, instructional coach, department leader, and head coach at Hempstead High School. Throughout the selection process, he demonstrated strong relationship building skills, a student-centered approach, and a commitment to continual growth and opportunities for students.

His passion for contributing to positive school culture, supporting students, and creating meaningful opportunities for young people will be a tremendous asset to the Cougar community.

Students explored an ABB calendar pattern using ladybugs they created themselves. They incorporated handwriting pieces to build their ladybugs and practiced addition using red and yellow pieces, bringing math learning to life.

As we recognize National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, students in the strength and conditioning course at Drexler Middle School have been putting in great work as they build skills, strength, and confidence! 💪

The Cascade Players celebrated a very successful 2025-26 season with an ice cream social last week! 🍦

Students were recognized for the time, talent, and effort they displayed throughout their productions of "Clue: High School Edition" and "The SpongeBob Musical." We are incredibly proud of the dedication and teamwork these students brought to the stage all season long.

Today marks the last day of school for our seniors, and we are so proud of all they have accomplished. Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓💫

We look forward to celebrating our graduates on Sunday, May 17.

Cascade Junior/Senior High School graduation will begin at 12:30pm.

Western Dubuque High School graduation will begin at 2:00pm.

A special celebration was in order after a Drexler Middle School student-athlete broke the school record in the 1500m run. Her track coach followed through on a promise with a well-earned ice cream cake to celebrate the achievement. 🍦

After filling their jelly bean jar, they earned a special tea party celebration complete with dress-up, charcuterie-style snacks, “tea,” and time to socialize with friends. It was a fun and memorable way to celebrate their positive behavior!

Western Dubuque Schools honors Iowa School Board Recognition Month with board member group photo and thank-you message.
We are proud to recognize Charles Durr, a 7th grade student at Drexler Middle School, for demonstrating kindness and leadership on the school bus. Charles stepped in when he saw a 6th grade student being treated unkindly, and chose to sit with the student for the rest of the ride home.

His actions are a strong example of how students can support one another and make a positive difference! 🤗
