The Western Dubuque Weekend Backpack Food Drive is coming up on Saturday, October 10, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Silker’s.

Donations of individually sized, kid friendly food items will help provide meals and snacks for Western Dubuque elementary students who need a little extra support over the weekend.

A big thank you to the Western Dubuque Lions Club and Epworth United Methodist Church for organizing this effort and supporting our students and families! ❤️🖤

What a week it has been for our littlest Bobcats! 🐾❤️

Our PK students officially made it through their first week of school, and we are calling it a BIG success! 🙌🏼🎒 There were new friends to meet, new routines to learn, new places to explore, stories to hear, songs to sing, and SO many exciting things happening throughout each day! 📚🎨🧩🎶

There were plenty of busy little bodies moving from one activity to the next… and by the end of the day, we definitely saw a few big yawns and tired eyes! 😴🥱😂

The first week of school is filled with so many new experiences, and our PK students did an amazing job learning what it means to be a Bobcat. 🐾 They are learning classroom routines, practicing how to be good friends, discovering new things, and building confidence each day. 🌟❤️

And let's be honest… making it through that first week deserves a BIG HIGH FIVE! ✋🏼🎉

We are so proud of our youngest Bobcats and can't wait to see all the learning, growing, laughing, and exploring that this school year will bring! 💙❤️🤍

Our 5th graders had the opportunity to visit with Mike Oberbroeckling and Terry Oltmans about our American flag and what the flag means to them. ❤️🤍💙

This special visit is helping prepare our students to write their own essays about what the American flag means to them. 🇺🇸✍️

Our students were incredibly respectful, engaged, and asked some great questions throughout the conversation! 👏🏼📚

🐾❤️ 5th Grade Leaders Are Ready to Lead! 🖤🐾 Our 5th graders are kicking off the year by learning about some pretty awesome leadership opportunities they get to be a part of at DES! 🎤🇺🇸🤝♻️🏫 From helping with morning announcements, being responsible for raising and lowering our flag, serving as peer partners, helping with recycling, and giving tours to new students and families, our 5th graders have so many ways to step up and make a difference! These opportunities may seem like small jobs, but they teach BIG lessons. They are learning how to be responsible, dependable, kind, helpful, and positive role models for the younger Bobcats who are watching them. 🥰 They are learning that leadership isn’t about being the loudest or having a title—it’s about serving others, setting a good example, and making our school community a better place. I am so excited to watch this group of 5th graders grow as leaders and see all the ways they will make a difference this year! 🌟 This is what it means to be Bobcat Strong! 💪🐾❤️🖤 Let’s go, 5th grade! Our students in St. Mark's Summer Heroes program at Dyersville Elementary have been making the most of their summer! From hands-on learning activities to games, creativity, and lots of laughter, our students and staff have been busy making memories while continuing to grow. 🌟✏️🎨

❤️ During our Bobcat Service Day in May, our amazing 4th-grade students put together military care packages for three family members of Dyersville Elementary staff who are currently serving our country. 📦✉️

The students included thoughtful notes, tasty treats, and even created word puzzles to help brighten their days. 😊

We recently received these pictures and videos thanking our students for their kindness, generosity, and support. It was so special for our students to see the impact their efforts had on those serving far from home. 💙⭐

A huge thank you to our military members for their service and sacrifice, and to our 4th graders for showing what it means to be Bobcat Strong through acts of kindness and gratitude! 🐾❤️🤍💙

🎓⚾ A few of our seniors joined our second graders for recess today and had an absolute blast playing kickball and Gaga ball! 🛝😄 It was so special watching the interactions between our seniors and students as they laughed, played, and enjoyed recess together — just like when the seniors once played on the same playground themselves. ❤️🖤 We especially loved seeing them running around in their caps and gowns while making memories with our younger Bobcats! 🐾🎓 What a fun reminder that once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat! 🥹✨

⚾🌽 “If you build it, they will come…” and our new kickball field brought some very special visitors! ⚾️✨ Mrs. Oberbroeckling and Mrs. Pillard’s classes had an unforgettable time playing kickball with a couple of “ghost players” straight from the Field of Dreams! The students had an absolute blast laughing, playing, and enjoying all of the silly antics throughout the game! 😆⚾ It was such a fun and memorable experience for our students and one they will be talking about for a long time! ❤️🖤 A very special THANK YOU to Russ Bullibough and Marv Maiers for taking time out of their busy schedules to make this day so special for our kids. We truly appreciate you sharing your time, energy, and playful spirit with our Bobcats! 🐾

After reviewing the weather forecast today, the PTO, Mr. Lawler, and I have made the decision to postpone the Color Run until Tuesday, May 19th. 🌦️➡️🌈

The schedule for each grade level will remain the same. If we need to make any location changes due to standing water, that information will be communicated on Monday.

We are excited to see everyone on Tuesday for a fun-filled event! 🎉 Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. We hope this advance notice gives you and your family members time to adjust schedules if needed.
