The turnout was incredible, and it was so much fun seeing our students and families spending time together—building connections, sharing laughs, and enjoying some friendly foosball competition! 🎉⚽ Our guest scoopers had a blast serving up smiles and ice cream. You might say we really scooped up the fun tonight! 🍨😄 Nights like this remind us how special our DES community is. 💛📦 Pack the Principal’s Office – February Community Challenge! 📦💛 In February, our students and families participated in our annual “Pack the Principal’s Office” donation drive to support our local Rural Area Food Pantry. This year, we gathered items during the week leading up to our Friendship Dance — and our goal was simple: see just how full we could get Mrs. Hillebrand’s office! Our students and families absolutely showed up! 👏❤️ In just one week, the office was packed with donations to help support families in our community. The generosity and kindness shown was truly incredible. At Dyersville Elementary, we believe it’s so important to teach our students the value of community support, compassion, and volunteering. 💕 When students actively participate in service projects like this, they learn that even small contributions can make a BIG difference. These experiences help shape caring, empathetic leaders who understand the power of giving back. 🌟 And of course… we had to celebrate! 😄🎉 To recognize the amazing support from our students and families, each student had a turn sliming Mrs. Hillebrand — and it’s safe to say she was completely covered by the end! 🤣💚 The smiles, laughter, and excitement made it all worth it! Thank you to everyone who donated and helped us make an impact. We are so proud of our Bobcat community and the heart you show for others! 🐾❤️

📚✨ Read Across America Celebration! ✨📚 Today we celebrated the joy of reading, imagination, and all the incredible learning that comes from books! ❤️📖 Mrs. Hillebrand had so much fun visiting each classroom as a guest reader, sharing stories and seeing the excitement on students’ faces as they listened and let their imaginations soar. 🌟📚 Dr. Butler kicked off our all-school assembly and brought the energy! He also taught students about how the game of Rock, Paper, Scissors came to be — and they were all ears! ✊📄✂️ A big THANK YOU to Dr. Butler for taking time out of his busy day to read with our students and make this celebration extra special. We are so grateful for your leadership and support of literacy! 👏📚❤️ Be sure to ask your children to share what they learned about Rock, Paper, Scissors — it’s a story you won’t want to miss! 😉✨

🦷✨ Our 1st graders had a tooth-tastic time learning all about healthy smiles! We were so excited to welcome two dental hygienists from Elite Dental who taught our students how to take care of their teeth! 😁 They learned how to brush 🪥, floss, and keep those smiles bright and strong 💪🦷. Thank you for helping our students build healthy habits that will last a lifetime! 💙

📐✨ Geometry superstars in action! Mrs. Pasker’s 3rd grade classroom was busy exploring shape attributes, and today’s spotlight was on quadrilaterals! 🔷🔶 Our students did an amazing job explaining to Mrs. Hillebrand what makes a shape a quadrilateral — four sides, four vertices, and closed shapes! 🙌🧠 They used math vocabulary like pros and were confident sharing their thinking. Way to go, third graders! Keep asking great questions, explaining your reasoning, and shining in math! 🌟📊

Our Dyersville Elementary Bobcats showed what it truly means to give back! ❤️🖤🐾

Students and families worked together to pack Mrs. Hillebrand’s office with donations for the Rural Dyersville Area Food Pantry. While this tradition is usually held before Thanksgiving, this year we paired it with our annual Friendship Dance — making it an even bigger celebration of community and kindness. 🐾

Throughout the week, students learned about the importance of getting involved, supporting others, and how even small acts of generosity can make a big impact during times of need. We are so proud of the way our Bobcats stepped up to care for others in our community. ❤️🖤

And yes… it wouldn’t officially be “Pack the Principal’s Office” without a little fun! Because students filled the office AND brought even more donations to the dance, Mrs. Hillebrand will be slimed at our Read Across America Celebration on March 2nd. 🐾

The slime may be messy… but the impact our students and families made is what truly matters. ❤️🖤 Stay tuned for pictures!

This week we welcomed the Drexler Middle School counselors to Dyersville Elementary! ❤️🖤

They met with our 5th grade students to talk about registration and what to expect as they transition to DMIS next year. There’s always a mix of excitement and nerves when thinking about middle school—but our students showed great maturity and asked some fantastic questions! 🐾

Our 5th graders are already looking ahead to the new opportunities, activities, and experiences that await them as future 6th graders at Drexler Middle School. We’re so proud of this group and can’t wait to see them continue to shine! ❤️🖤✨

Our DES 🐾 Bobcats had an absolute blast at their bowling day at 7 Hills — generously sponsored by our amazing PTO! 🙌

There’s just something extra fun about bowling in your socks 🧦😂 and our students fully embraced it! Smiles, cheers, high-fives, and a whole lot of Bobcat spirit filled the lanes all day long. 🎉🐾

A huge THANK YOU to Mr. Lawler for organizing such a smooth and successful event. 👏 Your time and effort made this day one to remember!

💛🎉 Happy National School Counselor’s Week! 🎉💛

This week, we are so excited to celebrate and recognize our amazing school counselors who support our students in so many meaningful ways every single day.

A huge shoutout to Mrs. Pederson, our incredible school counselor! 🌟 She goes above and beyond for our students by teaching lessons in every classroom twice a month, focusing on social skills, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and building strong relationships. She also leads Lunch Bunch groups, provides individual student sessions, and is always a calm, caring presence for students who need extra support. Her ability to connect with kids, listen with empathy, and help them grow socially and emotionally makes a lasting impact on our school community. We are so lucky to have her! 💙

We also want to recognize Mrs. Smith, our Mental Health Counselor, who joins us once a week to support students’ mental health and well-being. 🧠💚 Her work helps ensure students have access to additional care, guidance, and strategies to navigate challenges both in and out of school.

Thank you, Mrs. Pederson and Mrs. Smith, for the compassion, dedication, and heart you bring to our students and staff. Our school is truly a better place because of you! 💫👏

Our 2nd graders are getting hands-on with our new Smart Board, and the excitement is real! 🎉🖥️ This interactive technology is making learning even more engaging, and the students have absolutely loved exploring, tapping, and trying it out together. So much curiosity, collaboration, and fun happening in the classroom! 📚✨
