In the first lesson taught by volunteer Rick Colpitts, students explored the many businesses, organizations, and workers needed to help a city thrive. They are already looking forward to the next four lessons and the opportunity to continue learning about how communities work together! 🏙️

By comparing shapes and identifying their attributes, students have been building a strong foundation in geometry. They also created imaginative pictures using geometric shapes, showcasing their understanding and creativity!

Each student selected a potato and participated in a variety of Olympic-themed activities designed to reinforce measurement and data skills. This lesson helped students strengthen their understanding of key math concepts while having plenty of fun. We love seeing learning come to life in memorable ways! 🎉

WDHS Physical Science Chemistry students were hard at work collecting data to analyze for their finals. 🧪

Students completed six experiments, gathered detailed data, and classified each experiment by reaction type and energy changes. With five sections participating, nearly 300 experiments were conducted in just ONE day. We’re proud of the focus, collaboration, and scientific thinking demonstrated by our students!

The Western Dubuque County Community School District joins the community in honoring the life of Doris Langel and recognizing her more than 30 years of service to our students, staff, and families. Through her dedication and kindness, she helped shape a supportive school community and touched the lives of many along the way. ❤️

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00–7:00 p.m., and again on Monday from 9:00–10:00 a.m., with services on Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Doris’s influence will live on in the schools and communities she cared so deeply about. We extend our sincere condolences to the Langel family and to everyone whose lives she touched.

Ms. Bowles’ Physical Science Chemistry students explored the Law of Conservation of Mass through a creative lab challenge! Students worked to prove that mass cannot be created or destroyed during the chemical reaction of Alka-Seltzer and water. 🧪

By designing and testing their own procedures, students demonstrated critical thinking, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of scientific principles.

Consuelo is going above and beyond to create a March Madness Picture Book bracket for her one-on-one student, Odette. She has designed a bulletin board and coordinated with teachers to involve peers in both the reading challenge and a classroom basketball tournament. 📚

Students will buddy read with Odette and work together to decide which books advance in the bracket, building meaningful connections along the way. We are grateful for Consuelo’s dedication and care in creating inclusive opportunities for students!
