Our prekindergarten students celebrated Teddy Bear Day as part of our February math theme at Peosta Elementary. Students brought a favorite bear from home and enjoyed sharing about their special friend with classmates!
Throughout the day, students measured their bears using manipulatives, weighed and compared them, drew pictures, and sorted them into groups. They also used blocks to build cozy homes for their bears and ended the day with a few extra snuggles during rest time.
It was a fun and engaging way to build math skills through hands-on learning! 🧸

It’s been wonderful to see our students recognized and celebrated, and to watch them begin their day alongside someone special. These simple moments are making a big impact!

Students rotated through fun, themed activities that encouraged creativity, collaboration, and skill-building. It was a joyful day filled with smiles and meaningful learning. 💕

Mr. Steffen and Mrs. Bryte visited to share information about registration and what students can expect in middle school. Students asked thoughtful questions and are excited about the new opportunities that await them!

Dr. Dan Butler has volunteered to teach Junior Achievement in Epworth Elementary’s 1st grade classroom for the third year in a row! Students look forward to his visits each year and truly enjoy his energy and passion for being in the classroom.
We are grateful for partners like Dr. Butler who invest their time and talents in our students! ❤️

Visitation will be held on February 27 from 3:00 to 7:00pm and again on February 28 at 9:00am, with a memorial service to follow at 10:30am on February 28.
His legacy will be felt for generations in the schools and community he helped strengthen. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Adams family and all who knew and loved him.

This activity helps elevate heart rates and promote healthy blood circulation while also alleviating tension, anxiety, and stress. Desk drumming activates both sides of the brain, supporting concentration and cognitive development in a fun, active way.
We love seeing creative strategies that support student learning and wellbeing throughout the school day. 💙

Students invited parents, grandparents, neighbors, and special friends to experience a morning at school alongside them.
A record-breaking 800 donuts were served, but even more meaningful were the countless conversations and memories made. This is what community looks like, and we are grateful for the strong partnerships that support our students each day.
We’re better together! 💛

These heartfelt messages will be shared with veterans participating in Honor Flights, which take Eastern Iowa veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the national monuments dedicated to their service.
We are proud of our students for taking the time to honor and thank those who have served our country.

We’ll see everyone again on Monday!

The scheduled make-up days will be:
Wednesday, April 1 — one-hour early dismissal
Tuesday, April 7
Please also note that there will be no school on Thursday, April 2; Friday, April 3; and Monday, April 6, as originally indicated on the calendar.
At this time, the final day of school for students has not yet been determined as we continue through the winter season. We will confirm and communicate the last student day by mid-April once we have greater clarity on any additional impacts to the calendar.

This week celebrates the power of public education to transform lives and strengthen communities through the dedicated efforts of teachers, staff, families, and partners.
Thank you for believing in our students! 🌟

Students had a great time hitting the lanes in their socks and sharing plenty of smiles along the way. A special thank you to Mr. Lawler for organizing the event and making sure everything went smoothly.
Events like this would not be possible without the continued support of our Dyersville Elementary families and PTO—thank you!

We're grateful for our FFA students and their enthusiasm for this field!

Joe Hirsch battled his way to a 4th place finish at 157 lbs in Class 3A, while Cascade’s Bryce Carroll (5th at 144 lbs) and Tatum Honda (8th at 126 lbs) each earned spots on the podium in Class 1A.
State medals are never given—they’re earned through discipline, resilience, and relentless work. We're proud of the way these young men represented their schools, teammates, and communities all season long.
WDCCSD wrestling continues to show what it means to compete the right way.
