Today Cascade Jr/Sr High School hosted District Speech where four out of eight groups earned a I rating and advance to state contest at Decorah on February 8th: Competing are, Musical Theatre "Legally Blonde", One Act "When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors", Ensemble Acting "Quick Draw Grandma", and Group Improv. Exciting news for Cascade High School alumni and baseball fans! Colin Rea, a 2008 graduate of Cascade High School, has signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Chicago Cubs for the 2025 season, including a club option for 2026.
After his time at Cascade, Rea played college baseball at the University of Northern Iowa, St. Petersburg College, and Indiana State University.
He previously pitched for the Cubs during the 2020 season and has since gained valuable experience with other teams. This signing brings Rea back to Chicago, where he is expected to add depth to the Cubs' pitching rotation.

Congratulations to Rylan Smith who was 1 of 24 students across the state selected to sing the national anthem at the IHSAA Boys State Wrestling Tournament. She is scheduled to perform on Friday, February 21st at 9:00 am for session 7 of the tournament. #chscougs #wdbqschools

Cougar Fans - If traveling to Anamosa for wrestling or basketball this week, please keep in mind that due to construction, parking in the front of the main entrance is limited. Do not park in the areas that are marked as no parking or painted red. Spectators are to park down the hill around the back of the school in the back parking lot and use the Ellen Kennedy Fine Arts Center entrance to come into their new gym. Signs will be posted.

The Cougars downed the Dons of Don Bosco in non-conference basketball action, and the Little Cougar dance camp participants showed off their new skills at halftime. Great job to all our Cougars!
