Saying "goodbye" is never easy-- especially when they aren't just incredible coworkers, but incredible teammates who have become like family! We had a staff breakfast this past Friday to honor and celebrate Sandy Waller and Merle Besler on their upcoming and much-deserved retirement. Sandy served our district for the past 22 years, with the past 15 being at Drexler! Merle served our district for the past 10 years, with the past 6 of them also at Drexler! Sandy will be retiring from her role as the DMS Kitchen Manager and Merle will be retiring from his role as DMS Lead Custodian. Sandy and Merle are both unsung heroes who both work tirelessly behind the scenes, to keep our students and staff fed, smiling, and ready to learn or teach each day in a safe, clean and well-maintained school. All of us at DMS will miss you both and we wish you best of luck in your future endeavors!

On May 22nd, Mr. Bergan's class joined leadership students from Mr. Davidson's class for a Peer Pathways Fishing and Hiking Day at the Dyersville Sportsmans Club. Fish were caught, connections were made, and fun was had! Special thanks to our paraprofessionals for being there to support this great event! (Mr. Bergan even got to enjoy some time on the play equipment with the students!) #drexlerms #wdbqschools

The 6th graders went on the annual DMS Camp Little Cloud trip last week! While at camp, the students got an experience filled with adventure, teamwork, and lots of fun! The students got to explore the great outdoors, bond over the campfire, make tie-dye shirts, make dream catchers, make handmade soap, learn about archery, do some outdoor cooking, along with many other activities. We hope the students had an experience that was all about learning, growing, and making memories to last a lifetime! #drexlerms #wdbqschools

The Dubuque County Sheriff K-9 officer came to DMS yesterday to put on a demonstration for our 6th graders. Very interesting! Thank you, Officer Harward, we appreciate your time!

Congratulations on our May Students of the Month! Each month a selected group of teachers, paras, and other staff members in the building nominate a student that they feel is showing qualities of that particular month's "theme". May's theme is "empathy". Congratulations to these students for being excellent leaders and role models to their peers!
