May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Our Student Leadership Class is advocating and raising awareness around our school. They are also offering an online apparel store to promote awareness. Two dollars of every shirt will be going to the "I'm Glad You Stayed Project". Store Website closes April 17th

These students were our "Standing Ovation Award" recipients in 6th grade band for trimester two. This award is given to students who have gone above and beyond in their playing, practicing, and are a leader in the band! Job well done and way to be excellent leaders!
As the school year winds down, here are the final academic dates for students in Western Dubuque:
May 15 – Last day for seniors
May 16 – Graduation practice for seniors
May 21 – Last day for 3-day preschool (1-hour early dismissal)
May 22 – Last day for 4-day preschool
May 23 – Last day for TK–11th grade students (2-hour early dismissal)

Congratulations to all performers at the Drexler Middle School Band Solo Ensemble on Tuesday, April 8th.! 6th, 7th and 8th grade band students participated in 74 events, receiving 26 superiors and 47 superior plus scores (the two highest ratings possible).
An extra congratulations to the following students who won "Best of Center" solo awards for exemplary performances: Greyson Schroeder, Logan Winkleblack, Owen Paisley, Eric Christiansen, and Lucy Boge.

The rest of our ISASP testing starts tomorrow! Tuesday is Reading, Wednesday is Math, and Thursday will be ONLY the 8th graders testing for Science.

If you have gently used or new games that you’d like to contribute, please bring them with you to conferences. These games will be used in classrooms and common areas to promote teamwork, strategy, and fun for our students.

Mark your calendars! Western Dubuque Youth Soccer Night is Tuesday, April 1st. All youth soccer players get in for free with a parent admission. Let's pack the stands and cheer on the Bobcat players as we take on our rival Beckman Catholic. Girl's game will start at 5:15pm and Boy's game will follow at 7pm. Go Bobcats!

Science Cloud Lab
This week in science class the 8th graders conducted a lab on making clouds. Frist, we started by boiling water. Then they got two cups and put black paper around the glass jars. Then they filled the cups with hot water. After they did that, Mr. Westhoff came over to the group and lit a match and put it in one cup. With the other cup we didn’t put a match in it and just put the bag of ice over that cup and the other cup (control cup). When we did that, we watched as a cloud formed.
