A Message From Our Superintendent

Welcome to the Western Dubuque School District. Our students, staff and community are very proud of our school district and our accomplishments. We truly are a school system with a rich past and a very promising future. Our community is focused on delivering a first class education for all students. We strive to be innovative and creative in our approach to teaching while maintaining a caring environment in our classrooms and buildings. The Western Dubuque School District is a vibrant and growing community with countless opportunities for education, employment, recreation and entertainment.

While our enrollment is moderate at around 3000 students in K-12, we offer our children and families a wide range of choices in instructional delivery methods and programs. I invite and encourage you to visit any of our schools in our district. I believe you will find that our staff is second to none and that they are truly dedicated to our students and their learning. You will also see that our curriculum is innovative, challenging and differentiated to meet the needs of the individual student. After visiting our schools and our communities you will leave with the sense that we truly value our children, families and education. This is a great school district with many wonderful communities and we are very proud of what we have built.

Our strategic plan calls for “Success for All” with our guiding philosophy of “Better Every Day.” The plan represents our commitment to continually improve the three key areas that contribute to quality schools. We promise to focus on student achievement and success, to manage our resources responsibly, and to develop healthy relationships with one another. These three areas may sound simple on the surface but our success is dependent on collective effort and dedication. Our mission is to inspire and challenge our students and provide them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become responsible citizens.
