Today we proudly honored our Veterans! ❤️🤍💙

Our students did a beautiful job singing patriotic songs and showing their appreciation for the men and women who have served our country. 🎶👏

A huge thank you to the American Legion Post 137 for joining us and helping make our program so meaningful. 🙏 Commander Mike Mullis shared his experience in the Air Force and reminded us that while we can never fully repay the debt owed to our veterans, we can honor them every day through our care, gratitude, and service. 💬✨

We also want to congratulate our three 5th grade students — Jaxson, Josh, and Nova — who were recognized for their Flag Essays about what the flag means to them.📝🎉

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our heroes today! 💖

Wow — what a busy week of learning at our school! 📚🎉 👧👦 PK students are doing an awesome job learning to share, take turns, and get friends’ attention through peer-mediated routines 🤝💬— it’s amazing to see them grow in confidence and kindness each day! 💕 ✏️ Mrs. Pillard’s class is diving into the Benchmark Advance program pilot and having fun with spelling patterns by stretching to the tall, small, and below letters! 🔠🧘‍♀️ The movement keeps learning active and engaging! 🎶 🧠 Mrs. Pederson’s 3rd graders learned how to use the Second Step problem-solving strategy to handle small and big problems — such a great skill for both school and life! 💭💪 We’re so proud of all our students and teachers for making learning meaningful, hands-on, and fun every single day! 🌟🙌❤️

🥍😃 Lots of smiles, a little competitiveness, and tons of fun!

Mr. Lawler introduced our 2nd graders to the exciting game of Lacrosse. Students learned the basics of the sport—how to handle the stick, pass, and work together as a team. 🤝⚡

Lacrosse not only builds coordination and teamwork, but it also encourages sportsmanship, perseverance, and trying something new. 💪🌟 Our students were all in—cheering each other on, moving with energy, and discovering a new way to stay active! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Way to go, 2nd graders, and thank you Mr. Lawler for bringing so much enthusiasm to PE! 🙌💙

🌟 Our 2nd graders had a special guest today! Karen from DuTrac visited to teach a Junior Achievement (JA) lesson all about our community. 🏘️

Through Junior Achievement, students learn real-world skills in areas like financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship. Today’s lesson helped students understand how people in a community work together, the different roles we play, and how everyone’s contributions matter. 🙌

Thank you, Karen and Junior Achievement, for helping our students build knowledge and skills that will support them now and in the future! 💡✨

🇺🇸 On Friday, Mike Oberbroeckling and Terry Oltmanns from American Legion Post 137 visited to share what the American flag means to them. As our students begin writing their own essays on what the flag means to them, it was inspiring to hear the powerful stories and personal reflections from these veterans. 🙌📖 We truly appreciate Mike and Terry for taking the time to speak with our students and help them connect more deeply with the meaning behind the flag. ❤️🤍💙 #wdbqschools

📏✨ Our 5th graders at Dyersville Elementary have been hard at work in partners exploring volume through Bridges Math! Students are building, measuring, and discovering how math connects to the real world.

The Bridges Math program provides hands-on, inquiry-based learning where students problem-solve, collaborate, and communicate their mathematical thinking. This aligns directly with our District Plan on a Page, focusing on creating engaged learners, building critical thinking skills, and preparing students for success in and beyond the classroom. 💡📚🤝

🌪️🔬 In science, 2nd graders are building tall towers that could withstand strong winds (fan-powered!) 💨🏗️.

Students learned the importance of having a solid, stable base and explored different materials to create a strong foundation. 🧱⚙️

It took a lot of perseverance 💪, teamwork 🤝, and determination 🌟 to achieve our final builds — and the results were amazing! 🎉👏

🍉🥒🌸 Our Dyersville Elementary 5th graders had a wonderful time shopping at the Dyersville Area Farmer’s Market last week! Students loved learning from the vendors about different types of fruits, vegetables, honey, and flowers—and the watermelon, cucumbers, and peppers were definitely favorites! 🐝🌽📖

A special thank you to the Dyersville Area Chamber of Commerce for making this experience possible and to the James Kennedy Public Library for providing books for our students to take home. 💙👏
