🥍😃 Lots of smiles, a little competitiveness, and tons of fun!
Mr. Lawler introduced our 2nd graders to the exciting game of Lacrosse. Students learned the basics of the sport—how to handle the stick, pass, and work together as a team. 🤝⚡
Lacrosse not only builds coordination and teamwork, but it also encourages sportsmanship, perseverance, and trying something new. 💪🌟 Our students were all in—cheering each other on, moving with energy, and discovering a new way to stay active! 🏃♂️🏃♀️
Way to go, 2nd graders, and thank you Mr. Lawler for bringing so much enthusiasm to PE! 🙌💙

🌟 Our 2nd graders had a special guest today! Karen from DuTrac visited to teach a Junior Achievement (JA) lesson all about our community. 🏘️
Through Junior Achievement, students learn real-world skills in areas like financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship. Today’s lesson helped students understand how people in a community work together, the different roles we play, and how everyone’s contributions matter. 🙌
Thank you, Karen and Junior Achievement, for helping our students build knowledge and skills that will support them now and in the future! 💡✨

🇺🇸 On Friday, Mike Oberbroeckling and Terry Oltmanns from American Legion Post 137 visited to share what the American flag means to them. As our students begin writing their own essays on what the flag means to them, it was inspiring to hear the powerful stories and personal reflections from these veterans. 🙌📖
We truly appreciate Mike and Terry for taking the time to speak with our students and help them connect more deeply with the meaning behind the flag. ❤️🤍💙

📏✨ Our 5th graders at Dyersville Elementary have been hard at work in partners exploring volume through Bridges Math! Students are building, measuring, and discovering how math connects to the real world.
The Bridges Math program provides hands-on, inquiry-based learning where students problem-solve, collaborate, and communicate their mathematical thinking. This aligns directly with our District Plan on a Page, focusing on creating engaged learners, building critical thinking skills, and preparing students for success in and beyond the classroom. 💡📚🤝

🌪️🔬 In science, 2nd graders are building tall towers that could withstand strong winds (fan-powered!) 💨🏗️.
Students learned the importance of having a solid, stable base and explored different materials to create a strong foundation. 🧱⚙️
It took a lot of perseverance 💪, teamwork 🤝, and determination 🌟 to achieve our final builds — and the results were amazing! 🎉👏

🌸💙 Heartwarming Update 💙🌸
During our Spring 2025 Bobcat Service Day, our 2nd grade students spread kindness by decorating small flower pots and planting seeds 🌱 to share with our neighboring houses 🏡.
This week, we received a couple of photos 📸 from our neighbors showing the beautiful flowers 🌼🌷 that grew from those tiny seeds. Just like flowers, kindness grows when it’s planted and nurtured 💕.
What started as a small act of kindness blossomed into something so meaningful and beautiful 🌟. Thank you to our neighbors for sharing these pictures with us—it reminds us all of the impact even the smallest acts can have. 🌻✨

✨ Each year, our 5th graders take on leadership roles to make Dyersville Elementary a great place to learn and grow. One of their important responsibilities is raising the American flag each morning and carefully folding it each evening.
Mrs. Hillebrand meets with the 5th graders to teach them:
⭐ The importance of the flag
⭐ How we show respect for the flag
⭐ The proper way to fold the flag
This is the beginning of their journey in learning about the flag, which continues with participation in the 5th Grade Flag Essay Contest held by the Dyersville American Legion Post 137.
We are so proud of their excitement and leadership—a true example of being Bobcat Strong! ❤️🐾🤍🐾💙🐾
