Last Friday, May 22nd, a group of Leadership students, as part of their School Improvement Project, created, organized, and led an “8th Grade Send-Off” ceremony for the future Class of 2030!
The ceremony began with an opening address from Principal Mr. Adam Kedley, followed by a speech from staff-elected speaker Mr. Wes Dolphin. Each member of the 8th grade class was recognized as their name was read along with what they are looking forward to over the next 10 years. Students also received a handwritten note from a staff member and a class bracelet.
A speech was then given by selected student Ellie Auderer, followed by a video featuring some of their middle school memories. The ceremony concluded with closing remarks and a class photo.
We could not be more proud of the Leadership students who organized this event! It was such a wonderful send-off to celebrate our 8th grade students and all that lies ahead for them.
Leadership Students: Tori Kress, Gretta Hefel, Cloie McDermott, Maya Danielson, Ellie Auderer, and Ella Astgen

A huge THANK YOU to our DMS PTO for donating the inflatables for yesterday’s Carnival Day! 🎪🎉
Even though the weather was a little chilly and we had a few sprinkles, our students still had an amazing time! The laughter, smiles, and excitement made the day a huge success!
We truly appreciate the PTO’s continued support and all they do to help create fun and memorable experiences for our students! 🐾 #drexlerms #wdbqschools

Congratulations to our May Students of the Month! Each month a selected group of teachers, paras, and other staff members in the building nominate a student that they feel is showing qualities of that particular month's "theme". May's theme was "Empathy". Congratulations to these students for being excellent leaders and wonderful role models to their peers! #drexlerms #wdbqschoools

Kids in Journalism Class at DMS do a lot of different things. These include but are not limited to, making the morning announcements, writing articles for the newsletter, writing pieces in the Dyersville Commercial, taking pictures around the school, and interviewing people with talents around the school. The kids in this class help keep the school running by making sure everyone is up to date along with many other life lessons. We are glad to have this opportunity for a class! (written by Randall, Carter, and Alex)
TOMORROW (Thursday, May 21st) is the LAST day to get a DMS yearbook!

Attention DMS families! As we wrap up the school year, please remind your student to check the Lost & Found for any missing items that may belong to them. There are lots of water bottles, sweatshirts, lunch boxes, and more waiting to be claimed! All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the school year, so be sure to stop by and take a look before it’s too late! #drexlerms #wdbqschools
COMPUTER CHECK IN DAY IS TOMORROW!! #drexlerms #wdbqschools

Last Friday, May 15th, the 7th graders went on their class field trip to Maquoketa Caves! Students hiked, participated in team-building activities, and explored the caves. Did you know that Maquoketa Caves State Park in Jackson County, Iowa, is one of the state’s most unique natural attractions, with more caves than any other Iowa park?
