Congratulations to the DMS students who participated in the Math Counts competition at Washington Middle School in Dubuque on Saturday, February 21, 2026. In the individual competition, Ellie Auderer and Owen Paisley were among the top ten individuals and advanced to the Countdown Round. Owen has been offered an invitation to the Math Counts state competition in Des Moines at the end of March. The official DMS team of Ellie Auderer, Jack Neumeister, Owen Paisley, and Greyson Schroeder took second place. Thank you to all the students who participated. 8th Grade Science Fair
DMS students have been working hard on their science fair projects. They typed up papers and worked on making graphs and tables with their data. Their data was presented on their tri fold boards. The first round was judged by DMS teachers, who went on to the 2nd round. The second round was judged by different members in the Bobcat Community. The winners were Peyton Willenbring (1st place), Reed Berning (2nd place), and Owen Paisley (3rd place). Honorable Mention awards went to Lacey Goebel, Jonathan Busch, Lucy Wilhelm, and Evelyn Hendries (by Lily and Melena)

We need your photos for our Yearbook! We are looking for photos that you have taken from any Drexler sports and activities that you would be willing to share for possible publication in our yearbook. We definitely need wrestling, archery, football, choir, band, quiz bowl, and cross country photos, but are more than happy to consider any photos you are willing to share from all DMS sporting events and activities.

The 5-8 WD Color Guard Spin Clinic performed their routine to Golden, choreographed by high school guard members, Bailey Dalsing & Ava Willenbring, at the basketball game last night (Feb 12th). Archery in Coach K’s P.E
Currently in Physical Education class, we are learning about archery. We are learning how to shoot a bow and arrow at targets. We are also learning the different parts of a target and the different parts of the bow. We are also learning how to do different tricks on a bow and arrow--such as shooting at 3-D targets, learning how to score points, and 11 steps to archery success. Throughout the last few weeks, the 7th graders have been working hard on their science fair projects. They started by choosing a topic they wanted to explore more of. They started testing and collecting data for their project. Once they had their data, they created a poster board with all their research and data. After they finished their poster board, the 7th graders presented their posterboards in the old gym on February 6th to family, other students, and friends. (by Addy, Addy, and Lily)

As Counselor Appreciation Week is coming to a close, we just want to again recognize Ms. Bryte, Mr. Steffen, and Mrs. Smith for all they do for Drexler Middle School! They are always here to support students, give helpful advice, and make sure everyone feels welcomed and cared for. We appreciate their kindness, patience, and hard work every day, and we are glad to have such great counselors at our school.
