Congratulations to the DMS students who participated in the Math Counts competition at Washington Middle School in Dubuque on Saturday, February 21, 2026. In the individual competition, Ellie Auderer and Owen Paisley were among the top ten individuals and advanced to the Countdown Round. Owen has been offered an invitation to the Math Counts state competition in Des Moines at the end of March. The official DMS team of Ellie Auderer, Jack Neumeister, Owen Paisley, and Greyson Schroeder took second place. Thank you to all the students who participated. 8th Grade Science Fair
DMS students have been working hard on their science fair projects. They typed up papers and worked on making graphs and tables with their data. Their data was presented on their tri fold boards. The first round was judged by DMS teachers, who went on to the 2nd round. The second round was judged by different members in the Bobcat Community. The winners were Peyton Willenbring (1st place), Reed Berning (2nd place), and Owen Paisley (3rd place). Honorable Mention awards went to Lacey Goebel, Jonathan Busch, Lucy Wilhelm, and Evelyn Hendries (by Lily and Melena)

The 5-8 WD Color Guard Spin Clinic performed their routine to Golden, choreographed by high school guard members, Bailey Dalsing & Ava Willenbring, at the basketball game last night (Feb 12th). Currently in Physical Education class, we are learning about archery. We are learning how to shoot a bow and arrow at targets. We are also learning the different parts of a target and the different parts of the bow. We are also learning how to do different tricks on a bow and arrow--such as shooting at 3-D targets, learning how to score points, and 11 steps to archery success.
