===================================================
Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
The Western Dubuque Fine Arts Booster Club is proud to present a Children’s Theatre opportunity this summer. The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MTC) is a non-profit group from Missoula, Montana that travels the nation conducting theater opportunities for children. They bring with them a complete set for the stage and all of the costumes. This coming year, more than 65,000 cast members around the world will take to the stage to the delight and applause of their families, friends, community, neighbors and teachers! We are excited to host this summer’s performance of Sleeping Beauty and
invite your child to audition.
If your child is interested in participating in
this exciting opportunity, they need to complete the registration form and
submit as soon as possible. In the event, we receive more
pre-registrations than available roles; places will be determined by earliest
postmarked registrations. Students who
register but do not receive a role will have their check returned after all
roles are filled on Monday, June 15th. If not all
positions are filled with pre-registrations, we will again open registrations
to the general public the day of auditions.
Auditions to assign character roles for Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of Sleeping Beauty will be held on
Monday, June 15th at Western Dubuque High School. There are
roles for those registered participants entering 1st grade through 12th grade.
Approximately 60 local students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT
Tour Actor and Director. See the registration form for details on the
number of students assigned from each age group.
This is a group audition – no advance preparation is necessary, but a nice smile never hurts. Students should be ready to come and have a good time! Students should arrive at the Western Dubuque High School Auditorium on Monday, June 15th by 9:45 a.m. to check-in for auditions starting at 10:00 a.m. and must remain for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal will begin approximately 30 minutes after the auditions are complete.
Rehearsals will be conducted every day from
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Although not
all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have
an open schedule for the entire week, and be able to attend all rehearsals
required for their role. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4 ½ hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a sack lunch or snack.
Please note that if your child is not scheduled
for rehearsal, they should NOT be in the school. Western Dubuque High
School will be hosting numerous athletic camps and meetings during rehearsal
times. Please remind your participants to be courteous and help keep the noise
at a minimum. Our scheduled rehearsal times need to be followed as close
as possible. If you and your children
arrive early, or you drop them off, we ask that you please remain in the
commons and wait for the MCT tour directors to open the doors.
There will be three additional workshops
available to attend throughout the week at no additional cost. If your
child is interested, please have them sign up before or after auditions on
Monday morning. Workshops will be held
following the afternoon rehearsals, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,
beginning at 3:00 and will last approximately 45 minutes.
The performances will be held on Friday, June 19th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 20th at 2:00 p.m. General
admission tickets will be $5.00 per person and will be available at the door
prior to showtime. The cast will be called for dress rehearsal before the
performance those days and will need to be ready at the designated time
provided by the MCT tour directors. Each cast member MUST be available
for BOTH scheduled performances.
