Service Learning should provide real benefit to members of your community. Helping others can give you a feeling of great satisfaction and accomplishment. Additionally, many scholarship, grant, college and employment applications require you to provide documentation concerning your volunteer experiences. Service learning also strengthens the relationship between community and school. Americans have shaped their nation by their voluntary efforts: providing services, organizing political action, caring for the poor, reaching out to the disadvantaged, providing education, ensuring equality and civil rights for all citizens, and working for change. Because of these benefits, our high school has created the Silver Cord Program.
